In Poker, a player has the option to check the pot (get all the cards needed for a straight), call a raise (call to increase the amount of the pot), or fold (fold the hand). In this game, players use poker chips, which are red, white, blue, or green. The chips are assigned values by the dealer before the game begins.
The first round of betting is called the ante, which determines how much each player is allowed to bet. The ante is the amount of chips that each player bets, minus the amount of chips the dealer is allowed to take. After this round, the cards are turned face-up. If two players have equal hands, the pot will be divided as equally as possible. However, if two players tie, the odd chip goes to the player with the highest card by suit. The hand with the higher card is referred to as “high hand”.
In Poker, the goal of the game is to make the best possible hand. Each player has two cards in his or her hand and five cards on the table. Players may use one card from their hand, and up to four cards from the table to form the best possible hand. The player with the best hand wins the game.
